An expat Brit, expat Aussie, ex-engineer, ex-philosopher, tried a few countries to live and work in: UK, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Swaziland, Barbados – not sure what I want to be or where I want to live when I grow up, but at present I’m an Emeritus Professor of Educational Technology and an Infopreneur, living in the Caribbean.
How did this itinerant lifestyle of galavanting across continents and careers start? Just three books: Jean-Paul Sartre’s Nausea, Luke Rhinehart’s The Dice Man, and Robert M. Pirsig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance – that was the start. So what happened? Well – that’s yet to be written in the novel …..
So, currently I am an Emeritus Professor at The University of the West Indies Open Campus – and Founding and Managing Editor of the International Journal of Education and Development using Information and Communication Technology (IJEDICT). Prior to retiring, I was the Director of Special Initiatives in the Office of the Principal of The University of the West Indies Open Campus and UNESCO Chair in Educational Technologies. I have held senior management positions in higher education in England, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Southern Africa and the Caribbean.
My research and consultancy interests are in the role of communication and information technologies in distance education, especially in developing countries. I have over 100 publications, including book chapters, refereed articles and conference papers, an encyclopedia, and several books, the latest ones being in the series “Educational Design and Technology in the Knowledge Society“.
I love to travel and experience the cultural diversity in the world. I am an avid social networker and can be contacted on any of these networks at XeeMe.
